Re: Vanished mail
Some of each, mostly POP; some of it webmail. The vanished mail was in a folder which contained mail from several accounts - mostly a POP one. All fine now, though!

Re: Vanished mail
It's OK: you can all go back to sleep now. I've discovered that Rebuild, given enough time to sift the hundreds of messages, does indeed recover the mailbox. But patience is definitely needed! Getting there, messages gradually reappearing. Thanks for listening to my unnecessary ramblings ....

Vanished mail
MacBook Pro running El Capitan and using the standard Mail program.
Suddenly yesterday morning I discovered that email messages saved in a sub-folder had disappeared. A little later the folder in which that sub-folder sat had also lost all its messages, several hundred in all. There are other sub ...

"Inactive" iCloud account in Messages
I tried to use Messages on my Mac today to send something to a colleague's iPhone and was unable to do so. On investigation I found that my iCloud account in the accounts list was marked Inactive (and there is only that and Bonjour - also inactive - in the list).

Re: Flash not working in Safari
That's because I gave up and posted a YouTube video in place of the embedded one that had been there. I obviously must have made it "private" - whatever that means. I shall have to look at YouTube and see where I've gone wrong on public access! Still no wiser on flash.

Re: Flash not working in Safari
It is fine in Opera.
Most odd.
I may have to bite the bullet and upgrade to Sierra to see if that fixes it. I'm always nervous about changing the OS, though, ever since I lost the ability to print with one upgrade and it took a lot of effort to get it back! I also need enough time ...

Re: Flash not working in Safari
Hmm. Installed latest version (24.0.0.194) for my OS. Checked all settings and, for now, allowed Flash on everything, just in case I had something wrong. No change.

Re: Flash not working in Safari
Thanks. I'll check that I have the latest version, but I'm on automatic updates. Flash is enabled for the websites in question. Mystery!

Flash not working in Safari
Since updating Safari to the latest version for El Capitan (Safari version 10.0.2) I have not been able to see Flash video in web pages. I know they are there (one because it is in my own blog and I put it there!) because I can see them in Opera or on my Windows machine in Firefox.

Re: Cannot print since upgrade to Mavericks
Oh dear, this is not good news. Am thinking new printer might be needed, but in meantime am managing most of the time by using Google Cloudprint: bit of a sledgehammer to crack a walnut when the printer is in the same room as my MacBook, though! It just used to work before the "upgrade" to Mavericks ...

Re: Cannot print since upgrade to Mavericks
The update to the driver came automatically, and indeed when I reinstalled a downloaded driver from Epson's website in an attempt to get something working the update was offered to me again. As I recall (and it is a while ago now) the update did get the process further along, but not as far as ...

Cannot print since upgrade to Mavericks
I was printing perfectly satisfactorily over my home network via wi-fi from my MacBook pro on Mountain Lion to an Epson SX400 wired to my Windows XP desktop machine.
After upgrading to Mavericks the printer was not recognised immediately even when reinstalled. A couple of days later an updated ...
